Homework Expectations
Homework is an important part of students’ learning process. It provides students with the opportunity to make sense of what they have learned in school and prepare for future learning. Homework grades will be factored into students’ overall averages for each subject area.
✔ Students should expect 15 – 20 minutes of homework each day per major subject area.
✔ Daily reading is encouraged. Students will have access to library books, as well as digital books.
✔ It is a student’s responsibility to make up missing assignments and to be diligent to complete assignments when they are absent.
✔ Teachers will check homework regularly and students will be graded for completion and accuracy on assignments according to the rubric. Teachers may adapt this rubric to be more detailed for specific assignments.
Late Work Policy
● One point will be deducted for homework and classwork assignments that are up to 1 week late.
● After 1 week, the highest grade that a homework assignment can earn is 2 points out of 4.
Jupiter Grade Codes
The following grade codes are used by teachers to communicate missing and incomplete assignments.
● 0 - work is submitted and entirely incomplete
● / - work is missing (this grade is calculated as a 0)
●abs - student was absent and is expected to make up the assignment
● ex -will be used for a student who is excused from an assignment. This grade code does not affect the student’s overall grade
