My name is Louis Muriente. Some of the returning students may already know me from the assistance I did with the school last year. I take it as a privilege to return to M.S.890 this school year as one of your child's teachers. I will be working with students this year for Blended Learning, offering academic support services in ELA, and with those that are in seventh grade Film Production Spark. For Blended Learning, students will use technology to support the skills they are learning in their core content classes. Throughout the year students will use online educational tools such as Achieve 3000 and Mathletics. These websites differentiate instruction and allow students to learn at their own pace supporting the skills being used in their content classrooms.
Classwork: Here is the place where students can find digital forms of their class work. Please make sure to follow the directions for YOUR class section.
FIRST, we are going to read an Achieve article(any one you want) and complete only the Poll Questions and Activity section. Raise your hand when you are done for your first check for your classwork grade
NEXT, complete the graphic organizer to find relevant details for the Central Idea of your article.
With any time left, log into Mathletics.
Homework: 2nd Marking Period 601/701 HW#1: Complete your Main idea graphic organizers to be handed in by the following class period. The website will provided further details as we move into each project but we will also perform these activities during the year:
-Visitors who are currently working in the production industry -Trips to Production companies -Student-made films as we learn the equipment
I look forward to the year in Spark and the incredible stories that these students will make. I look forward to also having possible film screenings where students get to show their work to their classmates, and hopefully the parents as well.
These services will take place in both a push-in and pull-out setting. I will work closely with your child's core subject teachers to ensure they are not penalized for any work they may miss when they are pulled out of the classroom.
